Hi all, i'm about to purchase a used manual 2004 Acura TSX with 74,000 miles on it. I brought it to my mechanic and he said the car is good but the only thing he noted was that the engine sounded louder than normal, and i noticed this too. Could this be because the owner only changed the oil with synthetic oil every 7000 miles? (He's owned the car for 2 years and only drove 15,000 miles). It sounds a little like an older 4 cylinder economy car. But its not THAT bad, just curious.

You should post a video/sound clip of the engine noise so someone can help diagnose. If you search around there's some good posts with videos of many different loud engine noise problems.:donno: you may find your problem.
none of us can truely help you on this issue as we cannot hear the noise. i would take it to a few techs and see what each one says. but as people are saying, the 04's do have some issues as it was the first model produced. if you search around the board, you will find topics on the 04s and go from there.
