cheaper mufflers like the Skunk2 use steel wool/fiberglass to muffle the sound, and it breaks down over time reducing the sound deadening. It's normal for them to get louder over time. If you want something to replace them that's a bit less noisy i've been really impressed with the laminar flow mufflers from flowmaster. I'm collecting exhaust components now, and plan on doing this in a single 3". Depending how it sounds i might add a resonator and another in line muffler. Currently running the sergebo header and resonated test pipe on the OEM exhaust. It actually sounds awesome! Screams at WOT but still pretty quiet in normal driving, no drone.
The perfect choice for a variety of vehicle styles and engine applications, Flowmaster’s Laminar Flow mufflers utilize cutting-edge technology to provide maximum performance and deliver a sound quality like no other. The key to its superior performance and smooth refined tone is the Laminar Flow...

Tbh I like it loud as shit lol. I am not so bothered by how loud it gets I am more so bothered by the tone it gives off or the buzzing, rattling, or hising. That is what is getting to me. I like the free flowing exhaust cause it makes the car more of an experience to drive and also pops and bangs alot and I looove that. I am thinking of doing something like just getting rid of the rear mufflers and putting straight pipes. I removed my exhaust once to see if It was too loud without the mufflers and tbh it was HORRIBLE it sounds amazing and like a race car like I want, but it droned like a bitch. I was kinda guessing tho that the reason it droned so bad was cause the exit was under the car. So I think the sound was getting trapped under the car and that was what made it so bad. If it exits out the back behind the car maybe it would not be so bad. That is only my theory tho, I could be totally wrong. so realistically I probably should just cut off the skunk2 mufflers and get something else. I don't wanna make it quieter just less hollow sound. The now opened out skunk2 mufflers sound hollow as hell, I think that is what is giving me that sound I don't want.
I already know alot of people think I am crazy to have a straight piped car, but I actually love the way Honda's sound NA with no obstructions, they SCREAM.
I am trying to find a balance tho, I don't wanna make it too miserable for daily driving, but I love my car to be unique and really be my own.
I will look into those flow masters tho, maybe they make something I am looking for
