i just bought my tsx used and it didn't come with the user manual with the car but then i had a issue to change out the battery and then i started back up my car and it worked fine but i noticed that i needed the code to start the radio back up... i think its the anti-thief stuff but i have no idea how to start it back up i called up the acura dealership and they said that i need to look in the user manual book that i don't have and i told them and they just said just bring it in so they can take a look at it and when i took it in the were opening my glove compartment to look for a "serial number" r something like that and he couldn't find it so he said hes gonna have to take out my navigation because its behind the whole thing and its gonna cost my 110 dollars for him to take out the navigation and it would take about 2 hours to get the serial number so he can get the code for my radio... is there any other way i can get my radio to work i drove my car around for 2 days now without any music.. and it sux if anyone could help me with this problem it would be great!

wait, wait.

there are other places to look.

for instance, in my car, the codes are under the hood.
if you take off the lid to the fuse box under the hood, inside the lid
there could be stickers with numbers.
I've heard of them being on the inside lid of the fuse panel inside the car too.
the glove box is too obvious I would think anyway.

so search some more before you go doing anything drastic.

Not sure about the navi, my non-navi is a 5 digit code. It's BS that they need to do all that though. I called my dealer bc I didn't have my code and after they were like "you need to chk the glove box" but there was nothing there. Then they tried to tell me some other crap about bringing it in but then put me on hold. Their manager was able to use my name since I bought the car and they just checked their system and the code was there. They didn't even need me to come in, just told me over the phone eventhough they "aren't supposed to do this sort of thing". I would see if you could call in and talk to a service manager over the phone and see if they can do the same. $110 is a total rip off man.

This is the easiest way asides from looking in all these different places. For me all the codes i found in the manual and under the hood did not work. But i called the Acura Customer Service line and by identifying the radio serial number they were able to just tell me the code. All i had to do was fax them my registration...

i check on the side of the glove box door but there wasnt nothing there and i dont have the radio serial number either is there any possible way that i can just give them my vin number r something and they find out lol cuz 110 dollars is a big deal of cash coming out of my pocket i really wanna get the code for my radio... it sux with it.. cant really do anything on my navi its all blocked...

I would just call up customer care and have them pull up your info. If you give them your vin that might work but they should have all that on file, including your code, with all your paperwork from buying it. Sounds to me like they just want to make some money off of you tbh. See if what post #8 has listed will work.

Serial number

According to the 2005 and 2006 manual,
"If the code card is lost, a dealer can access your code with the your radio’s serial number. To access the serial number, turn the radio on. It must display ‘‘CODE’’, then turn the radio off. Push the preset 1, preset 6, and power buttons at the same time, then
quickly release."

HTH.

Sorry to resurrect a thread from the dead, but this saved me last night. I picked up a 2008 TSX Navi (CGP/quartz) from a non-Acura dealer. The battery had been disconnected so it needed the code. They didn't have any books so they were going to call on Monday to figure it out. I spent 5 minutes searching the forum and found the code on the left side of my glove box! I love the internets.

for non-navi units, just pull fuse 15 (40A) for a minute, put it back in and put key in position I. then hold 1 and 6 radio button and press power (volume knob) at same time. I will give you the serial number something like Uxxxx Lxxxx. give this to acura for code.

but really..it's just a PITA and why would someone want a oem acura radio. :dunno:
